The article immediately evokes me the reading experience of the book "The Joy Luck Club" also written by Amy Tan. Indeed, as an international student, generation gap and culture clashing are always coming into our lives. For instance, the mother in the artitle, due to the reason that she had spent most of her lifetime in China, she could not speak or even write such beautiful English as her daughter. In this way, problems were coming between this family in a row.
As we know, English is a phonetic language which is based on the alphabet. When Asian people use this kind of totally different language, a great deal of distance sense will come out. Due to this reason, they always cannot control themselves use their previous way from mother togue to expatiate. This problem will only be solved by time gradually. As a result, we should have high tolerance to face.
However, when we strongly persist in our new ideas or knowledge, we often neglect our parents' suggestions or even cares because they are behind the times in our mind. Actually, even though they are struggling of catching up with the current ages, their own philosophy from their life experience can teach us a lot. Moreover, they are always trying their best to give everything to us because of their love. Consequenly, we should be modist when we communicate and keep up with the people who love us.
