Computer Literacy--5

I am taking CSE classes this semester, in which I started to get touch with a new kind of language called computer language. Nowadays, almost all kinds of softwares and programs are made by this language because computers are just machines that we should make something they can recognise and identify. We have created a few web page by it.
This is the first time I learn about how to use program language so I have lots of additonal work to do. Fortunately, Microsoft made everything simple and easy to operate. After I entering NVU program, what I need to do is to follow the rules. For example, the meanning of the codes ""and "" are to change the font and color of text. Those seem like to be very simple. However, if we check the "source"menu of complicated websites, all of the comprehensive designs consists of those simple signs. Hence, when we have acquired the meaning and relationship of programming codes or languages, we start to know the literacy of computer science.
Computer skill is essential in current society so I will work hard to do well in improve my ability.

Language Literacy--4

Since I started learning English,I've found a big change in my life.There are a plenty of differences between it and my native language,Chinese.For example,when someone asked me "aren't you into this movie?"I used to answer the question with a simple "yes" in Chinese.That means I really don't like it.But things changed after I had a "English thought".My answer was no longer "yes" but ""no to the same question if I want to express my dislike__English pushes me to responde according to the fact.
With time going by,we use more english in our daily life no matter in China or now in America.Sometimes we even get stuck in expressing ourselves in Chinese and choose English to speak out our feelings . And of course ,a "yes" or a "yep" with a gesture of "victor" are more likable for everybody , no matter native english epeakers o non-english speakers,to share his happiness ,his approvement and even more sentiments.Mastering these two languages ,our life is more colorful because we are able to describe the world with different ways and see it as a producer of beautiful experience with other people.

Music Instruments Literacy--3

I am really crazy about all kinds of music especially the genre of folk and rock. Due to this reason, even though I am not an expert or even professional about instruments, I would still like to play my favourite songs by my guitar. As we know, music contains quite much literacy so it took a long time to improve my knowledge and skill.
First, if I play guitar, the rhythm is the guidance and also one of the most significance of knowing about music. For example, generally, slow rhythm is represented of soft and blue emotions, while rhythem with bouncy beats is using for happy songs. Meanwhile, the rhythm should keep the same above the entire song. Hence, rhythm is the foudamental and the most basic literacy of playing guitar. Without this kind of literacy, the song could be messed up.
The feeling of the melody is also the importance we will focus. When I am playing guitar, at least I should know what each string sound like so I would not run out. If we figure them out, tend melody will come out. I am always admiring on this great intruments, by which the music can really brighten us and encourage us. Hence, if we follow and do the literacy of music, our life time will be more and more colorful.

Online-shopping Literacy--2

Up to now, I have taken quite a few advantages of online-shopping instead of going out in USA. In this case, I think reading the instructions by sellers or websites and comparing most of the feedbacks by buyers could be the literacy of online shopping.
Due to I am a crazy electronics fan, I choose Amazon.com as my shopping market because it includes everything that I like. For example, if I want to buy a digital camera, what I need to do is to type"digital camera" on the searching board. Then Amazon will give a comprehensive list about camera, in which way I can find very detailed information and even suggestions by clicking the mouse. If I like more than one option, I can then read the feedback of buyers because most of them gave the evaluation when they got the good. In this way, I can carefully compare each of the advantage and disaavantages such as price and quality.
When I decide what to buy, what I need to do is still to read the instruction of giving payment. Amazon will give me a kind of detailed form about my payment information. I will just follow the guidance like credit card info and then my payment will be completed easily. Hense, if you do online shopping once, you will get to know the literacy of it soon.

Chemistry Literacy--1

Generally, literacy is considered to be the ability to read and write. If we broaden the definition of that, the understanding of everthing in all kinds of areas could be literacy. Due to the reason that I am really interested in natural science especially Chemistry, I will explain the literacy of chemistry.
Chemistry can not live without elements is the same as mathmatics can not live without number. Hence, element is the first literacy for chemistry. For instance, water consists of Hydrogen and Oxygen, whose abbreviation are H and O. In this case, if we are not understandable on this professional vocabulary, we can not even know what chemistry is. On the contrary, when we acquire a great deal of information of element, learning chemistry would have a clear way at least. As for me, I spent lots of time to remember quite a few kinds of element and what they look like so that I can get touch with this principle.
The principle of mathmatics could also be one of the literacy for chemistry. As we know, we should calculate a great many things when we are taking chemistry classes such as weight and temperature. We should also list many formulas of reactions. In this way, mathmatics skill can not be ignored at all. Fortunately, Asian students are always much more understandable about numbers. Hence, we should first know about element and maths then we know what chemistry is.

At my first view of this picture, I do not even know what it talks about. Then I have been shocked by picture designer’s creative idea. Actually, it is both a commercial and commonweal picture from Wrangler Company, which has two totally different meanings. This genre portfolio will focus on these incredible ideas.
First of all, the picture really shows the completely free-style and its tameless of Wrangler Jeans. It never follows the traditional methods or even nowadays fashions to do their designs. Instead, it abandons those old conceptions and does everything in its own way and value. For example, people everyday shoulder a great deal of stress and they wear masks to cover their sorrows to face difficulties, but it is faked and really makes people tired. However, just like the words on the picture “we are animals”, if people re-pick up their dreams, energy, believes and be animals to release and present their emotion, their lives would be more colorful and relaxed. It is also what does Wrangler respects. The female model in dark environment is quite free and sexy. She is not afraid or nervous about everything, which is also represented the open-minded youths nowadays. Who will not be attracted by this kind of quality? Hence, the simple picture has presented quite a few ideas about Wrangler’s conception about fashion and what should people do to improve their lives.
Moreover, it is also the picture to warn people of no harming the real animals. Sometimes people have no conscious to protect the animal as they meet, which has cause quite a few accident and death of wild animals. In the picture, the view of eyes is from a car driver, who is approaching a real animal. It says, if the driver slows down its speed, that beautiful life would be saved. It will wake our human nature to animals in a very silent and art way. Not only will we feel the beauty, colors or even organization of this picture, we can also learn and deeply think of this picture.All in all, it is a very great picture to present the nowadays value beliefs, which is freedom, open-minded and do beneficial to others. Do not pretend to be happy. Be animals to enjoy the real freedom.

What is "Literacy" to me

In the article, the writer mentioned about the “literacy as power.” and “Literacy as a state of grace.” Literacy is an abstract word that is hard to define. Generally, iteracy means the ability to read and write or the ability to use language proficiently. However, nowadays, I think the meaning of this word has been updated. Literacy does not just include the skill of the language using. Instead, it is the ability to do any study or obtain any infomation. For example, one can well sum up the knowledge and then present them. In this way, information is not just absorb but also has been used. Moreover, literacy can also used in mathmatics, computer, physics(...) instead of language because they are same in obtain and understand the knowledge.

Genre Portfolio-The movie"Edward Scissorhands"

“Edward Scissorhands” is always one of my favorite movies. I first have attracted because of its specific intro scene. It was a snowy and silent night that grandmother was telling story to her lovely granddaughter, which seemed to be a warm and wonderful fairy tale.
Edward, a robot created by a professor, lived alone in the castle. His everything was almost same with a normal man except his scissorhands due to the professor’s suddenly death. He could only live together with the flowers and trees, cutting them as the appearances he liked. His life was simple and happy until the day that Miss Peg brought him into the human world, which is strange and complicated. People’s enthusiasm, kind, selfish, suspicion, brutal, human nature, and love are like a circle that is all felt by Edward one by one. Finally, due to his difference, he ran away back to the castle and together with the machines that are only belonged to him. When the Christmas came, it would be snowing in the castle. Only the people who really loved him could understand the beautiful in Edward’s heart.

The beauty is the first thing what I want to talk about. The pure beauty is always lacked beside us. The world is black, despaired, cold in the eyes from most of us. Fortunately, the director saved our view of beauty in this movie. He created a lot of beautiful things. The love and human nature which are similar to fairy story are one of them. Another beauty is the pure heart from Edward. He had learned a great many books, poetry and policy. He helped people without any own purpose. Moreover, for example, Kim's father asked Edward how to do when he picked up 100 dollar. He answered"give it to my loved ones". It is totally from his heart and never be any reality and fake so that it is lvely and beautiful. And another beauty is “Because you ask me to”, these words can really show his true and pure love to Kim even though he knew the truth, which is definitely beautiful without any impurities.

Furthermore, the ugly is everywhere in the movie. It is hard to see such a fantasy and dream world in nowadays movies. The community is extremely colorful but simple. However, it was not a paradise that reflects all the ugly and conservative rules. There were boring neighbourhoods who just wanted to use Edward to benefit themselves, strangers who was always criticize Edward and even a woman who wanted to have sex with him. Those form a sharp contrast with Edward's beatiful. For example, finally, Edward ran away back to his castle, which means pure love can not live with reality. It is much sarcastic to make us deeply think our real world.

All in all, the movie really takes us to enjoy the pure beautiful and then consider about the ugly of human nature. I could never forget the pure eyes of Edward.
